Chain & Freewheel Wear
Today's bikes, especially mid to high-end machines have more gears: 8,9 or 10 on the rear wheel. Materials are lighter than before. Today's chain and freewheel components wear together and should be replaced together.

Each chain link gets slammed by the teeth on the chainrings and gears as it slides from the front of the link to the back.

Riding a worn out chain and freewheel sends dozens of links, hundreds of turns… The result is premature wear on the chainrings and gears…and higher maintanence costs.

It's not just mileage but also the intensity of the effort that causes wear; so we can't just say change it every 1000 miles (BUT THAT'S A FAIR ESTIMATE).

Bring your bike in and we will apply a tool that measures wear.  If it already skips and "kacks" under power it might be time to repair the drivetrain.
